Edward Benjamin Garza Sr.

FLINT - Mass for Edward Benjamin Garza Sr., 64, of Flint was held Feb. 25 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with the Rev. Tim Kelly and Monsignor Joseph Strickland officiating.

Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, Tyler, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home, Tyler.

Mr. Garza died Feb. 22, 2008 at a Tyler hospice.

He was born May 10, 1943 in Aransas Pass to the late Roman Sr. and Marciana Garza. He grew up and graduated from high school in Aransas Pass.

He served in the Navy and received his associate's degree from Delmar College in Corpus Christi. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for more than 40 years.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and Parish Council.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Helen Garza; son, Edward B. Garza Jr., Edgewood; daughters, Renee Blackford, Conway, Ark., and Michelle Mead, Whitehouse; two sisters; three brothers; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
