Boys fall to Chapel Hill, Pine Tree The Cats lost a close one Friday, 2-1, to Chapel Hill as the Bulldogs scored in the first 39 seconds of the game to take the 1-0 lead. The Cats answered with five minutes remaining in the half when Payne Stinchfield passed to Julio Alleman who was able take the ball and beat the keeper for the tie. The game remained tied until with 6:32 remaining in the game Chapel Hill was able to get the winning goal. In the JV game, Whitehouse won 4-0. The Cats were able to get two goals from Ricky Hernandez and one each from Jacob McCaslin and Emanuel Gutierrez for the win. Daniel Walton was in goal for the shutout. The varsity scored a big win with a 9-0 rout of Eustance on Feb. 26. The Cats only needed 13 seconds to get on the board when Ace Estrella shot the ball in to give the Cats the 1-0 lead. Stinchfield recorded the assist. Tanner Hays would get the next goal from a cross from Ivan Perez in which Hays headed the ball in for the score. Stinchfield would score four goals with assists going to Daniel Peek (two) and Ivan Perez and Tyler Bloom each with one. Cameron Cooper scored on an assist from Estrella. Closing the scoring for the Cats was Zach Lilly with two goals (assists to Hays and Perez). In goal for the Cats for the shutout wereTravis Lowthorp and Johnathan Parker. The JV also blanked Eustance, 5-0. The Cats lost heart-breaker to Pine Tree on Feb. 22. Although the Pirates outshot the Cats 16-9, the Whitehouse defense held Pine Tree to a lone first-half goal that was good enough for the 1-0 win. Playing in goal was senior Lowthorp who made several saves to keep the game in reach. The Pine Tree JV also won, 6-0. Whitehouse is at home Friday, hosting Athens on senior night. |
