WJHS student aims for archery success
      Mackenzie Brown has shot in three major tournaments within the last month and claimed first place in all contests. On Feb. 15-17, the Whitehouse Junior High School seventh-grader shot in the 2008 Texas State Archery Association State Indoor Championship at the University of Texas at Austin.

Varsity goes 2-1 in tourney
      The Whitehouse varsity baseball team played last weekend in the Caney Creek/ New Caney tournament. The Cats saw Mother Nature put a damper on the tournament opener by raining out their first game on Thursday night. That put Whitehouse playing their first game on Friday against Little Cypress.

Hornets slip by Wildcats
      The Wildcats wasted little time in their last home game of the year, scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes of the game. Julio Alleman scored the first with an assist from Ivan Perez. The second score came from an on-goal with the assist going to Perez.

Ladycats record 2 shutouts
      Whitehouse improved its district record to 13-2 with shutouts of Athens and Hallsville last week. The Ladycats will host district rival Lindale Friday on senior night. Playing Athens on Friday, the Ladycat scoring barrage was led by Lindsay Pritchard with three goals.

Troup Tigers 2-0 in district; set for road game in EF

     Due to bad weather, the Lady Tigers play in Edgewood this weekend was halted. The team also had to res chedule West Rusk for this Thursday and a makeup game with Arp has been moved to Saturday at 2 p.m. Both are home games.

      Here are the boys results from the Marshall track meet on Saturday, March 8: VARSITY Jacob Holmen took second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.36. Tim Priest finished fifth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:46 and sixth in the 1600 with a pace of 4:55.
