Community Activities

Quilters' Guild meets Thursday

The Quilters' Guild of East Texas meets on the second Thursday of each month at Pollard United Methodist Church. Fellowship starts with coffee and goodies at 9:30 a.m. Night meetings are also held on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Pollard United Methodist Church.

Keep Whitehouse Beautiful meets

Keep Whitehouse Beautiful will hold its regular meeting 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13 at La Hacienda in Whitehouse. The public is invited.

Benefit garage sale Saturday

The Whitehouse Diamond Club is having a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brown Elementary in Whitehouse this Saturday, March 15. The Diamond Club is the sole sponsor of a scholarship for the WHS Softball team. Each year the Diamond Club awards a scholarship to the Seniors that have been on the softball team for all 4 years and are going to further their education in college. The money raised at the garage sale will go directly towards these scholarships.

Vietnam Vets to meet at Traditions

Vietnam Veterans of America will meet on Thursday, March 20 at Traditions at 7 p.m. All veterans are welcome. For info, Robbie 903-876-4935 or Roger 903-570-0618.

Casey Rivers in concert

Casey Rivers will be in concert Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at WHS auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under age 10 and are on sale at Tri County Leader, CardSmart and Cavendar's. The concert benefits the Shattered Dreams program at WHS.

AARP Tax-Aide available Friday

Free tax return preparation service for low and middle income taxpayers, especially those age 60 and over is offered Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Whitehouse YMCA, 301 Terry St. Contact Jim Novy at 903-581-1809 for information.

Whitehouse library activities

Story time is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Regular library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11-4. Questions? Call the library at 903-839- 2949 or email at whitehouselibrary@hotmail.com.

WH Recycle Center

Regular hours of operation for the Whitehouse Recycle Center are on Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

Church Activities

Holy Thursday services set

Bilingual Mass of the Last Supper with Washing of the Feet and procession of the Blessed Sacrament will take place Thursday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Prince of Peace. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be held until midnight in the Chapel.

Sports Activities

WH Athletic Booster meet

The Whitehouse Athletic Booster Club will meet Monday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in the WHS commons area.

School Activities

Shattered Dreams application deadline

The deadline for students to apply for a role in the Shattered Dreams program at WHS is March 13.

Unique in its design and powerful in its impact, Shattered Dreams is an educational experience that reminds us all of the dangers associated with drinking and driving. Applications for the program are available in the counseling office. Contact Suzanne at 903-520-9798 or SuzanneTCL@yahoo.com.

Easter Activities

Pleasant Hill hosts egg hunt

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church is hosting an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 22 at 2 p.m. beginning in the KidStreet building. The egg hunt is open to all children from birth to fifth grade. PHBC is located at 13590 Hwy 110 South, 2 miles south of Loop 323.
