Ouida Jane Boyd Wall
Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery. Ouida Jane Boyd Wall, Panola County native and matriarch of the Wall family, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 in rural Alsup, the community of her birth on Feb. 20, 1905. She was one of six children born to the marriage of William Ellie and Amanda Hardy Boyd. Ouida was raised and finished schools in rural Alsup, later marrying William Emory Wall on May 16, 1924. Together they celebrated 53 years together before his death in 1977. She devoted her life to her Lord and family as a lifetime member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, and as a devoted homemaker to her loving family. Mrs. Wall was also preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Roe; great-granddaughters, Pepper Lynn Green and Amanda Barfield; brothers, Willard and Quentin Boyd; and sisters; Mary Powell and Lois Knight. Survivors include her loving daughter, Patsy Ross of Carthage; devoted son, Marvin Gene Wall and wife Norma of Tyler; grandchildren, Alan Wall and wife Susan of Lindale, Karen Gibbs of Owassa, Okla., Karol Wolf and husband Steve of Flint, Sandra Payne and husband Jim of Carthage, Jo Nell Phillips and husband Bobby of Carthage, Teresa Crume and husband Greg of Onalaska and Tina Crymes and husband Darrell of Whitehouse; two half-brothers, Jack Johnson of Deer Park, and Jerry Johnson of South Houston; 19 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends. Family requests memorials be made to Macedonia Baptist Church. |
