Troup Tigers 2-0 in district; set for road game in EF

Troup gained a narrow win in its second district outing, sending the West Rusk Raiders home with a 2-1 loss Friday.

Austin Braswell struck out nine batters through seven innings of play.

Catcher Cody Deese and Adam Voigt both went 1-for-3 with a double each. Nick Reeves was also 1-for-3 with 2 RBI. Ryan Nichols added a single in his only at-bat.

The Tigers took the early 1- 0 lead in the second inning and then both teams scored a run in the fourth.

Earlier that week, Troup blanked Waskom 10-0 to open its district schedule.

The Tigers outhit the Wildcats seven to two through five innings, with Braswell leading the way with a triple and 2 RBI.

Nichols and Chance Tosh both went 1-for-3 at the plate, with an RBI apiece.

Voigt went the distance on the mound.
