Keep Whitehouse Beautiful, city plan clean-up day If you don't need it … DON'T DUMP IT! This is the theme for the semiannual Clean Whitehouse Day, set for Saturday, March 29 from 8 a.m. until noon. This event gives the community the opportunity to dispose of items not suitable for regular recycling. "We are accepting yard waste, appliances, furniture and other odds and ends," said Dorothy LaFlure, Keep Whitehouse Beautiful spokesperson. "Tires are welcome too, but there is a $2 disposal fee for them." All recyclables will be accepted, as well as large household items such as furniture. Items that will not be accepted are wet paint, household trash, batteries or yard waste. This is the ideal time for spring cleaning the garage, the store room and the yard to rid your home of extra or unwanted items. Whether your items are junk or just junk to you, bring them down to the Recycling Center on Railroad Road south of FM 346 and do your part to REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE. This twice-yearly event is a joint effort between the city and Keep Whitehouse Beautiful to provide citizens a safe and appropriate way to dispose of unwanted items. |
