Nina McMakin
Burial will be in Haven of Memories Cemetery, Canton, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline. Mrs. McMakin passed away at the age of 89 on March 17, 2008. Nina was born April 26, 1918 in Grand Saline to the late James David Clopton Pugh and Lettie Myrtle McCutchen Pugh. She was a life-long resident of Grand Saline and retired from Malouf Sewing Factory in Grand Saline in 1979, where she worked as a seamstress. She served as an AARP officer, was a member of Fun After Fifty-Five, attended the Gleaners Sunday school class, and was also a choir member for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Dale McMakin in 1981; Arthur Dale "Sonny" McMakin Jr.; sister, Glenda Rebecca Bryant; and three brothers, Ray Pugh, Perry Pugh & James Pugh. Survivors include her son, James Rockie McMakin and wife, Phyllis of Whitehouse; three grandchildren, Donetta and Darrell Tramble in Tyler, Nina Lee and David Bresnehan in Aubre and Ryan McMakin in Whitehouse; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Shyler Bresnehan; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Pugh and Georgia Pugh; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Thomas Pugh, Mutt Pugh, Don Bryant, Johnnie Bryant, Ryan McMakin, Darrell Tramble and Ron Loper. If desired, memorials may be made to a charity of choice. |
