Preview party scheduled April 19 for planned History of Troup book
BOOK IT!

Are you eager for a book about the history of Troup - one with lots of pictures, some never seen before outside of family collections? The Troup Genealogy/Historical Society and the Friends of the Troup Library have been working on such a book for two years, and they are hosting a "get acquainted party" to introduce the book to the community and friends of Troup everywhere.

The event called "Book It" takes place Saturday, April 19 in the Community Room of the Troup Municipal Library. Guests can drop in at any time between 5:30 and 8 p.m. for buffet and book news.

Party planners promise great pick-up food, under the leadership of Carole Wilson. There will also be interesting and informative displays from the book under the direction of Deborah Burkett. And under the direction of Mildred Steele and Navoleine Roddy the event will be full of surprises and entertainment.

And some lucky attendee may even win the first copy of the new book off the press.

Though none of those working on the event will share the news about the book and the surprises scheduled for the event, they all have plenty to say about the Book It!

"Many people stop me and other members of the history book committee every week to inquire about our progress with this history of Troup. Well, we will soon have news to share, and everyone can find out about it at Book It! on April 19," says Ms.Roddy.

Though Deborah Burkett is keeping the displays under wraps for the time being, she notes that Bobby Neel has done an excellent job of getting a wealth of photographs ready for publication. "Some of the new-found pictures will be shown at Book It!" she adds.

Tickets for Book It are $10 each for a tasty buffet and a fun evening. Tickets are on sale now at the Library and by members of the planning committee, and by Troup's premiere salesperson, Willie Wilkerson.
