Carpenter's Cross Church hosting Forgiveness Revival The Carpenter's Cross Baptist Church welcomes everyone to join them Sunday, March 30 for a Forgiveness Revival. This special event will be held at the Carpenter's Cross Baptist Church, located at 18110 FM 344 West in Flint, and will feature a morning service followed by a catered lunch and an evening service. The morning service will begin at 10:30 a.m. featuring Carpenter's Cross Baptist Church's new pastor, Jared Wellman, with special music from Robert Abraham and Amanda Wellman. Pastor Denny Gorena will be the guest speaker during the evening service beginning at 6 p.m. with special music performed by the Chris Hobgood Band and the Hudsons. The Carpenter's Cross Baptist Church held its first service on Dec. 8, 1974 and was originally known as the Lake Palestine Baptist Church. On Oct. 31, 1984 the church caught fire and everything was lost except for a charred cross. Upon reconstruction, the cross was placed on the front of the building and the church renamed "The Carpenter's Cross Baptist Church." "We have a school and a daycare associated with the church which are part of our overall vision. I see us eventually building on the land and becoming a lighthouse in this community," said Wellman. "We have all the potential in the world and capability to attain everything that God has in store for us." Wellman received his bachelor's degree in biblical studies at the Criswell College in Dallas. He is currently working on a master's degree in philosophy at Criswell. Before coming to Carpenter's Cross Baptist Church in October, Wellman was the pastor at Powell Baptist Church in Powell for three years. |
