Ernest Pond Jr.

Memorial services for Ernest Pond Jr., 65, of Troup were held March 23 at Blackjack Baptist Church, Blackjack, community near Troup, with Pastor Philip Parks officiating. Arrangements under direction of Dickie Allen Funeral Home, Cushing.

Mr. Pond died March 15, 2008 in Tyler.

He was born Dec. 17, 1942 in Jacksonville to the late Ernest Sr. and Margie Mae Brown Pond and lived in Troup most of his life. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Blackjack Baptist Church. He did sheet metal work for Beamon Corporation and Brown & Root Construction Co., and maintenance work for Troup Nursing Home.

Survivors include his wife, Tiny Pond, Troup; son, Erick Pond, Timpson; daughters, Crystal Delaune, Reklaw, Faye Melton, Whitehouse, and Mary Pond, Jacksonville; sisters, Thelma Senter, Granbury, and JoAnn Stewart, Whitehouse; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Blackjack Baptist Church.
