Tiger JV goes 9-2 on year
      Troup's junior varsity boys baseball team ended its year Saturday with a win in the JV district tournament. The 18-2 victor y over West Rusk (a second game against Elysian Fields was rained out) gave the team a 9-2 overall record and a perfect 6-0 district mark for the year.

      Playing an aggressive opponent on their own home field, the Whitehouse Ladycats came away from Henderson with a 3-0 win and a ticket to the next round of the playoffs.

Wildcat JV tops 3rd straight meet
      The Wildcat junior varsity boys track team continued its march to district with a firstplace finish at the Wildcat Relays last Thursday. After taking second place at Pine Tree and Hallsville to open the year, the JV has won its last three meets.

Tigers split games with Arp, Waskom
      Troup slipped to third place in district with a seventh-inning loss to Arp last week. The Tigers are 5-3 and trail Elysian Fields and Garrison in the district standings. Arp grabbed a 2-0 lead after the first inning, with Troup tying the game 2-all in the third.

Wildcat JV earns 2 wins
      The Whitehouse JV rode two solid pitching per formances last week to pick up home wins over Henderson and Marshall. In the Monday night game against Henderson, Payton Smith hurled a three hitter, striking out eight in a 6-1 win. Smith also helped his cause at the plate with a 2-run homer.

Locals place in Azalea Run
      Several Whitehouse runners participated in the Tyler Azalea 10K race Saturday, March 29. The race began at Bergfeld Park with more than 450 participants running the 6.2-mile course on the brick streets surrounded by blooming dogwoods and azaleas.

Ladycat softball tied for 2nd
      Whitehouse's varsity girls softball team came through with two big road wins last week to grab a share of second place in District 12-4A. Emily Costlow, who missed most of the first round of district with a back injury, earned both wins.

Lady Tigers fall to Arp, down Waskom
      Troup's Lady Tigers lost to Arp last Tuesday and then bounced back with a win over Waskom at home Friday. Jessica Ross pitched both outings. Troup's Lady Tigers led Arp 4-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth, but the host team mounted a comeback.

TJC signs Kayla Mason, new coach
      Just two days after signing its first player, Whitehouse's Kayla Mason, the Tyler Junior College women's soccer team acquired its first coach. Corey M. Rose, presently head women's soccer coach at Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss., accepted the position last Thursday.
