Community Activities

Troup Sons of the Legion to meet

Troup Sons of the Legion will meet Thursday, April 3 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Casey Rivers in concert

Casey Rivers will be in concert Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at WHS auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under age 10 and are on sale at Tri County Leader, CardSmart and Cavendar's. The concert benefits the Shattered Dreams program at WHS.

Great Texas Trash Off Saturday

Gather your friends and meet at Whitehouse City Park at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, to head out to the ditches and roadways of the area picking up trash to make Whitehouse a more beautiful litter-free place to live. Groups will leave the park at 9 a.m. with their assignments and return by noon.

Tyler Aggie Mom's Club work night

In preparation for Parents Weekend at Texas A&M University, April 11-13, the Tyler A&M Mothers' Club will have an additional work night on Sunday, April 6 at 1:30 pm, at Pollard United Methodist Church, 3030 Copeland Road. We will be working to complete all the items for Boutique. Boutique is our major fundraiser for Aggie scholarships.

Troup Band Boosters to meet Monday

The Troup Band Boosters will meet Monday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the THS band hall.

Troup American Legion Auxiliary to meet

Troup American Legion Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Quilters' Guild to meet

The Quilters' Guild of East Texas meets on the second Thursday of each month at Pollard United Methodist Church. Fellowship starts with coffee and goodies at 9:30 a.m. Night meetings are also held on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Pollard United Methodist Church.

YesterYear Tea set

Mr. and Mrs. YesterYear for 2008, Randall and Susan Robinson, will be honored with a tea on Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Whitehouse United Methodist Church at 405 W. Main. The public is invited to attend.

AARP Tax-Aide available Friday

Free tax return preparation service for low and middle income taxpayers, especially those age 60 and over is offered Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Whitehouse YMCA, 301 Terry St. Contact Jim Novy at 903-581-1809 for information.

Business Expo set

The Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring their second annual Business Expo on Tuesday, April 22, 5- 8 p.m. to be held at Whitehouse Junior High gym. This year's event will feature the Taste of Whitehouse from area restaurants. For booth sign up contact Sandra at 903-520-4585.

WH Recycle Center

Regular hours of operation for the Whitehouse Recycle Center are on Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

Women's health seminar offered

"Finding Balance" is a seminar on women's health issues begin offered free of charge on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. at Health Plus, 2010 Sybil Ln., Tyler. Facilitator is Brenda Flowers RN.

Church Activities

Whitehouse UMC hosts breakfast

The First United Methodist Church of Whitehouse hosts breakfast the first Saturday of the month from 8-10 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted. The church is located at 405 W. Main.

Bluegrass/Gospel Music in Mixon

April 5 is the day for music and food at Mixon Missionary Baptist Church. Doors open at 3 p.m. Everyone welcome to come and jam early. Hamburger supper that starts at 4:30 p.m. The stage opens at 6 p.m. A love offering will be taken during the music. All proceeds of the love offering and the supper will go to the church located between Troup and Jacksonville on Hwy 135 N. For more information, please contact Mary Kirby at 903-842-4774.

Baptist Forerunners meet

The Forerunners, senior adults of First Baptist Church of Troup, will meet for a noon covered dish luncheon Monday, April 7. Pastor Robert Carter of Colonial Hills Baptist Church of Tyler will bring the program. David Buckley will join him.

Government Activities

WISD trustees to meet

The Whitehouse ISD trustees will meet on Monday, April 7 at 7 p.m. in the Wildcat Drive Annex, 109 Wildcat Drive.

Troup City Council to meet

The regular monthly meeting of the Troup City Council is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8. The meeting will be held at the Troup ISD Administration Office at 201 N. Carolina.
