Hazel Bateman and Pam Hood of Keep Whitehouse Beautiful deliver trees to Brown Elementary students Justin Lively and Alex Baham. The second-graders are learning the life cycle of trees as well as their benefit to the environment and uses by humans. KWB gave each each child a Shumard Oak seedling to take home, plant and care for during the next year. These seedlings are native to East Texas and do well in this area. They grow to be about 40 feet tall and have beautiful red leaves in the fall. The progress of the students and their trees will be followed up next year when the students are thirdgraders.
