Ladycat softball tied for 2nd Whitehouse's varsity girls softball team came through with two big road wins last week to grab a share of second place in District 12-4A. Emily Costlow, who missed most of the first round of district with a back injury, earned both wins. The Ladycats and the Lady Lions went into Tuesday's match-up in Henderson with identical district records (4-2). Whitehouse didn't squander the opportunity to gain ground and put a complete game together. "This was a great game for the girls," said head coach Alicia Crawford. "We hit the ball well and played great defense; we made adjustments at the plate and moved runners." "Henderson is a good team with a lot of talent - they are capable of beating anybody in our district," added Crawford. Costlow struck out six and gave up just three hits and one walk in the 9-2 win. Seniors Erica Fuller and Megan Brady led the hitting with 3-for-5 performances. Senior Jordan Knight went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, while sophomore Jesse Allen also scored two runs in a 2- for-3 game. The Ladycats' next took on Marshall for a 5-1 win, which left both teams a 6-2 record and a share of second place. At 8-0, Hallsville is the undisputed district front-runner. The Ladycats will travel to Hallsville on April 15. Costlow again put up good numbers: four strikeouts vs. six hits and one walk. At the plate, Brady was 1- for-3 with a two-run homer. Senior Taylor Russell added a double and an RBI to go 2-for-4 on the night. Junior Haylee Aldredge finished 2-for-3. District 12-4A Standings
