Troup VFD on the job thanks to funds Thanks to the funds now coming in to the Troup Volunteer Fire Department from the newly formed Emergency Service District, the residents in and around Troup can count on faster response during the work day. This time of the day has always been a struggle for most volunteer departments because the majority of their force is at work during those hours. "Our department is utilizing several of our men who work in emergency services to staff the station from 8 to 5," said Ronnie LaMotte. "These guys work the type of shifts where they are on four days and off three." LaMotte said that Fire Chief Ken Mager has asked his force to sign up for days they are available to man the station and he is handling the scheduling aspect. "We are glad to see this ESD money going to good use and know the citizens are too," LaMotte said. The "day shift" crew is working out of the #1 station downtown, but still covers the entire area, as usual. |
