Holloway Middle School students began the National Archery In The Schools Program three years ago in 2005 and competed for the first time in 2006. They have come a long way and are showing real promise.
"Temple hosted this year's state competition," said Coach Gerry Scheuber. "The fifth grade team won first place in the elementar y division. Sixth grade team placed third in the Middle School Division. Both qualified for nationals."
Fifth-graders Sydney Raabe and Kyle Webb placed first.
The team is coached by Scheuber, Sam Marshall and Shelly Ray. They are trying to raise the $12,000 needed to take 48 students to the nationals in Louisville, Ky., on May 10. Any help from the community would be greatly appreciated.
