Ladycats still tied for 2nd place

Whitehouse remains tied with Marshall for second place in District 12-4A softball, notching wins over Nacogdoches and Kilgore to improve to 8-2.

The Ladycats battled Nac to a 1-0 home win last Tuesday and then routed Kilgore, 14-0, Monday night in a game rescheduled from last Friday.

Emily Costlow earned the win against Nacogdoches, giving up just one hit. The sophomore pitched all seven innings, striking out four and walking one.

The game was scoreless until the sixth inning when Erica Fuller singled and then advanced to second base thanks to Chelsea Boulware. Taylor Russell then singled to right field to score Fuller.

Cagen Medlock did the pitching honors against Kilgore, striking out nine in six innings and giving up four hits.

After a scoreless first inning, the Ladycats scored three runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, before finishing things off with a five-run sixth inning.

Megan Brady went 3-for-4 with two singles, a homerun and a base on balls.

Jesse Allen also finished 3- for-4 with three singles and a walk.

Jordan Knight was 1-for-3 with a homer and two walks.
