Whitehouse blanks Nac, 10-0 The Whitehouse JV baseball team continued its winning ways in district play lst Monday with a 10-0 win over Nacogdoches on the road. The Cats continued to get solid star ting pitching, this time from Justin Haney, who went the distance giving up only five hits and three walks while striking out eight for the night. The Wildcats wasted little time giving Haney a lead as they put two runs on the board in the top of the first. Logan Newton and Jacob Hilburn lead off with hits and later scored on a fielder's choice by Conner Crawford and a single to left by Conner Cashion. The lead was extended to 5-0 with a run in the second and two more in the third inning courtesy of two walks and two hit batters. The Wildcats blew things open in the fifth with four more runs again assisted by three walks and a single by Hilburn to bring home two runs. That was more than enough support for Haney as he only faced trouble in the fifth as the Dragons got two runners on but Newton got an out on a grounder and Haney picked up a strikeout to end the inning. The JV returns to action after a rain postponement to Kilgore and a forfeit to Jacksonville as they play host to Pine Tree tomorrow night at Wildcat Park. |
