Troup enjoys spring semester

Troup High School has had a tremendous spring semester. We are achieving success in a variety of areas. From academics to extracurricular activities we at Troup High School could not be happier with our spring semester thus far.

Our teachers and students are busily readying themselves for the TAKS tests. The students took the English test at the end of February. Science, social studies, and math will all be taken the last week of April and the first week of May. To help our students prepare, we are offering tutorials both before and after school, on Saturdays, and during some of their elective classes. THS has been the only "Recognized" high school in Smith County the last two years, and our goal this year is "Exemplary." Our teachers and students are working tirelessly to achieve this lofty goal.

Extracurricular activities are also in full swing for the spring semester with softball and baseball finishing their seasons. We have students who have advanced to regional competitions in several areas including golf, tennis, track, UIL Academics and One Act Play. Our staff and students work very hard to excel in all areas and these staff members and students do an excellent job representing Troup High School in all these events.

On April 12 the commended students at THS took their TAKS reward trip to a Texas Rangers game. This is for any student who scored commended performance on the TAKS test during the 2006-2007 school year.

Some important dates you will want to remember for the remainder of the spring semester include:
