Lady Tigers fall to Tatum, Elysian Fields

Troup gets an out at first in the Lady Tigers 1-0 loss to Elysian Fields last week. The team also lost a close game to Tatum to slip to 6-7 in district.
The Troup Lady Tigers suffered two tough losses last week to drop to 6-7 in district action.

Prior to the 1-0 defeats at the hands of Tatum and Elysian Fields, the Lady Tigers routed West Rusk, 13-0, on the opponent's home field.

Freshman pitcher Jessica Ross struck out 10 in a no-hitter.

Chealsey Tomlin finished 3- for-4 with a double. Janna Ross added two more doubles, while Jessica Ross knocked a triple.

Casey Sanford, Desiree Purtle and Alysha Barton all singled.

Facing Tatum on a make-up game last Monday, the teams remained scoreless until the sixth when the Lady Eagles scored.

The Lady Tigers outhit Tatum five to three, but committed two errors.

Jessica Ross struck out eight in the defensive showdown.

Janna Ross had two hits for Troup, while Lauren Fite added a double.

Sanford and Purtle singled.

In another tense battle, the Lady Tigers came up short against Elysian Fields last Tuesday.

Ross struck out six and allowed five hits, while the Lady Yellowjackets pitcher earned a no-hitter.

The lone score came in the top of the fourth inning.
