Three Tigers qualify for regional track meet

Der'rick Thompson, Alisha Hermosillo and Mollie Johnson will represent Troup at the regional track meet. Thompson won the 100 meter dash and placed third in the 200 meter dash at the District 21-2A meet on April 11.

Hermosillo finished third in the 3,200 and 1,600 meter runs, while Johnson grabbed the last qualifying spot in the 200 meter dash.

Tatum claimed the top spot in the boys varsity division with 226 points. The Eagles bested Arp (212), Garrison (46), Troup (41), Timpson (30), Elysian Fields (29), West Rusk (16) and Waskom (10) for the district title.

In the girls division, Troup finished sixth with 31 points behind Garrison (171), Tatum (140, Arp (128), Elysian Fields (66) and West Rusk (40). Timpson (13) and Waskom (10) rounded out the girls field.

Troup's JV boys team finished fourth with 72 points, trailing Tatum (149), West Rusk (137) and Arp (114). Elysian Fields (34), Timpson (25), Waskom (18) and Garrison (0) rounded out the JV field.

Boys varsity

100 meter dash: first, Der'rick Thompson, 11.20; second, Tatum, 11;23; third, Arp, 11.29.

200 meter run: first, Arp, 22.19; second, Arp, 22.27; third, Thompson, 22.31.

Girls varsity

3,200 meter run: first, Arp, 12:42; second, Elysian Fields, 14:11; third, Alisha Hermosillo, 14:41.

200 meter run: first, Garrison, 27.11; second, West Rusk, 27.41; third, Mollie Johnson, 27.74.

1,600-meter run: first, Arp, 5:50; second, Arp, 6:26.24; third, Hermosillo, 6:37.04.
