Community Activities

Parkinsonians of East Texas meeting

Parkinsonians of East Texas will meet Thursday, April 24 at 2 p.m. at East Texas Medical Center Pavilion, 801 Clinic Dr., Tyler. The speaker will be Rick Wilbanks, an attorney. His topic will be estate planning. Parking is free for the meeting.

Dulcimer lessons offered

The Jacksonville Jammers will meet Saturday, April 26, 5:30- 8 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center at 302 S. Bolton St. in Jacksonville. They offer free beginning and intermediate mountain dulcimer lessons. All acoustic instruments are welcome.

Whitehouse library activities

Story time is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Regular library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11-4. Questions? Call the library at 903-839- 2949 or email at whitehouselibrary@hotmail.com.

WH Recycle Center

Regular hours of operation for the Whitehouse Recycle Center are on Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

Women's health seminar offered

"Finding Balance" is a seminar on women's health issues begin offered free of charge on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. at Health Plus, 2010 Sybil Ln., Tyler. Facilitator is Brenda Flowers RN.

VFW Post 1799 open daily

VFW Post 1799 on Rhone Quarter Road opens daily at 2:30 p.m. for members and guests. Each day offers a different activity such as competitive pool, karaoke and social hour. For information visit WWW.vfw1799.org or call 903-561-3501.

Church Activities

Bascom UMC hosts breakfast

The Bascom United Methodist Church on FM 848 hosts breakfast the last Saturday of the month from 8:30 -10 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted.

St. Matthew Church celebrates

The Pastor and members of the New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church cordially invite you to come and worship with us as we honor our faithful and loyal Deacon Walter Sanders. Deacon Sanders is a very dedicated member of the church. This celebration will be held Sunday, May 4 at 3 p.m.

Sports Activities

WH Spring Sports Banquet set

The Whitehouse High School Spring Sports Banquet will be held Monday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Awards presentation will follow in the auditorium. Tickets are $10 each and are available in the Athletic Director's office through May 1.
