Early voting opens Monday
Whitehouse has a contested race for mayor, with current city council member Danny Hogden and Jeremy McEuen vying for the position. In Troup, trustee Keith Lindsey and Kevin Martin are challenging for Place 3, currently held by Kent Lindsey who is not seeking another term. Early voting runs April 28 through Tuesday, May 6. Early voting in Whitehouse will be at the Whitehouse United Methodist Church. Early voting in Troup is at the Troup Municipal Library. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. times on May 5 and 6. The following positions are unopposed: City of Whitehouse Place 1: (unexpired) Mike Jeter Place 2: Gene Champion (incumbent) Place 4: Charles Parker Mike Adams is the current Place 4 council member, but he cannot run again due to term limits. Jeter is taking over the unexpired term of Bill Powers who is resigning. Troup ISD Place 1: Andy Griffin Place 2: Melissa Young (incumbent) Griffin takes over the position of Keith Lindsey whose term in Place 1 is expiring but chose to file for Place 3.
Patrick Moran will join the WISD school board, filling the seat of Frank Cuca, while incumbents Howard Patterson and Darrell Crymes retain their places. The Troup City Council welcomes new members Joe Carlyle and Sonny Selden. Carlyle is taking over the seat of Barbara Barton, and Selden has been sworn in to fill the unexpired term of Nancy Boothe, who resigned. Mayor John Whitsell and Place 5 council member Carole Wilson will retain their positions. Election Day is Saturday, May 10, with polling locations the same as early voting. Election Day hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
