Whitehouse dominates All-District Brittany Millican earned co-Defensive MVP honors on the 17-4A All-District girls soccer team. Eight other Ladycats also received All-District recognition, including first-team forwards Heather Lofties and Lindsay Pritchard, defender Kayla Mason and midfielders Elissa Parker and Kelli Hill. Pine Tree's Carolyn Leatherman earned Most Valuable Player honors, while Sarah Guillory shared co-Defensive MVP with Millican. Lindale's Charity Shipman was Offensive MVP. Chapel Hill's Ashley Aparicio was named Sophomore of the Year, and Hallsville's Emily Lawson received Newcomer of the Year honors as selected by the district's coaches. Whitehouse led the district with first team picks (five), followed by Pine Tree with four. For ward Heather Hall, midfielder Kelli Watson and defenders Tyneeka Stringer and Emily Phelps were Pine Tree's first-team selections. Hallsville had two - midfielder Heidi Lightle and defender Megan Jefferson. Midfielder Maddie Fraser, defender Rachel Mickey and goalkeeper Kaitlyn Kelm were Lindale's first-team selections, while forward Cameron Brown and goalkeeper Amanda Williams represented Chapel Hill. Ladycat Ashley Langley was named to the All-District second team. Others earning a spot on the second team were: Pine Tree: midfielder Caitlan Pir tle, goalkeeper Diana Martinez; Hallsville: forward Haley Johnson; Kilgore: midfielder Cameron Rios, defender Jorri Cheshire; Marshall: goalkeeper Taylor Reeves; Chapel Hill: midfielder Tori Opstedal, defender Whitney Justice; Lindale: forward Alicia Sanders, midfielder Ashley Alfaro, defender Shelby Dunaway; Eustace: forward Dayna Farris, midfielder Darrian Peele; Athens: forward Karina Garcia, defender Karina Robles. Whitehouse's Elise Dollahite and Carley Page received honorable mention recognition. Millican, Pritchard and Mason have all signed letters of intent to continue their soccer careers. Millican will be playing for Centenary College, while Pritchard has signed with Midwestern State University. Mason made history as the first recruit for the new TJC women's soccer team. Whitehouse had its best postseaon ever in 2008, making it as far as the regional finals before falling to Friendswood. The Ladycats finished 21-3 on the year. |
