FFA students, supporters honored at annual banquet

The new slate of Troup FFA officers for 2008-09 are (listed in order of office): Emily Renfroe, president; Carolanne Martin, first vice president; Angela Frieda, secretary; Ethan Huckaby, treasurer; Amber Clark, reporter; Tammara Thompson, sentinel; Laci Findley, junior advisor; Ethan Isaacks, historian; Savanna Childress, parliamentarian; and Cameron Searcy, chaplain.

Members of Troup's Future Farmers of America and junior FFA were honored Monday night at the annual FFA banquet.

The night's list of awards also gave recognition to those who support and foster the continued growth of the FFA program.

A buyers dinner was also held before the banquet, with a significant number in attendance, according to Renee Williams, FFA advisor along with Randy Tidwell.

Troup had a strong showing at several livestock shows this year, including earning Chapter of the Year at the Cherokee County Junior Livestock Show.

After a dinner catered by Sadler's Barbecue, the awards ceremony was held in the THS auditorium. Current FFA officers conducted the opening ceremony and presentation of awards.

Young Farmers scholarships were presented to Valerie York, Adelaide Petta, Chance Steele, Casey Sanford and Curt Lindsey.
