W.O.W. fund-raiser

The Widows of Whitehouse ladies are hosting a baked goods and garage sale on Saturday, May 3 at 8 a.m. The sale will take place at Pat Toole's home, 20360 Hwy. 110 S.

Outdoor warning system test

The City of Whitehouse tests the outdoor warning siren system the first Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. Should there be inclement weather the testing will be postponed.

YMCA hosts After Hours

The Whitehouse YMCA will host the Whitehouse Chamber of Commerce After Hours on Tuesday, May 6 from 5-7 p.m. at 301 Terry St. Come and learn about area businesses and organizations, explore your local Chamber of Commerce, celebrate the YMCA 7th anniversary and enjoy refreshments.

Dixie Masonic Lodge to meet

The Dixie Masonic Lodge #272 in Troup will meet Tuesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall.

Troup American Legion to meet

Troup American Legion will meet Tuesday, May 6 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Game Time for Seniors

Game Time for Senior Citizens will be Wednesday, May 7 from 1-3 p.m. at the Troup library. All senior citizens are welcome to attend.

Troup Sons of the Legion to meet

Troup Sons of the Legion will meet Thursday, May 8 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Whitehouse library activities

Story time is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Regular library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11-4. Questions? Call the library at 903-839- 2949 or email at whitehouselibrary@hotmail.com.

Church Activities

National Day of Prayer

Thursday, May 1 the doors will be open for prayer throughout the day at the Bible Wesleyan Church, 104 Hagan Rd. in Whitehouse. A candlelight prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Call Pastor Dennis Cable at 903-839-7039 for more information.

Women's conference in Mixon

First Baptist Church of Mixon is hosting In The Potter's Hands Women's Conference on Saturday, May 3, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. The guest speaker is Connie Brown with worship leader and pottery done by Rebecca Friedlander. Lunch and childcare is provided for 4 years and under. Registration is free and a love offering will be taken. To RSVP call 903-842-4548.

Baptist Forerunners meet

The Forerunners, senior adults of First Baptist Church of Troup, will meet for a noon covered dish luncheon Monday, May 5. Jim Day will give a presentation entitled "Some peculiarities in human locomotion." Day will integrate his research on human locomotion as a behavioral scientist and his experiences as a long time backpacker and discussing some little known facts about how humans move through their environment.

School Activities

Whitehouse High PTSA

WHS PTSA will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 in the Commons Area to elect a nominating committee and to work on Project Graduation. The PTSA is in need of officers for the 2008-09 school year. Contact Pat at 903-780-7542.

Troup Band Boosters to meet Monday

The Troup Band Boosters will meet Monday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the THS band hall.

WH Prom meeting

Junior parents are still needed to help with WH prom. Come Thursday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Commons to work.

WHS Band concert and supper

The WHS spring band concert will be held Monday, May 12 at 7 p.m. in the Arena. Come at 5 p.m. for hamburger supper fundraiser.

Softball tournament

The Troup Young Farmers are hosting a slow-pitch softball tournament on May 10. This is a fundraising effort for the group. Contact Preston Lindsey at 903-842-3586.

WHS reunion

WHS classes of 1970-1975 are seeking contact information on former classmates. Visit their website at www.classcreator.com/Whitehouse-Tx-1974 to pass along information and see what the plans are for the Sept. 20 reunion.
