Early voting under way in local city, school races Early voting began Monday and continues through May 6 for local elections. At press time, Whitehouse city secretary Stefani Wright said nine people had cast early votes, while an election official in Troup reported 13. Both the City of Whitehouse and Troup ISD have contested races in this year's elections. Council member Danny Hogden and Jeremy McEuen are vying for the position of mayor of Whitehouse, while trustee Keith Lindsey and Kevin Martin are running for Place 3 on the Troup ISD school board. Whitehouse ISD and the City of Troup were able to cancel their elections since all positions were unopposed. (See page 3A for an introduction to the new members of their school and city governments.) Early voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. times on May 5 and 6. The Whitehouse United Methodist Church and the Troup Municipal Library are the early voting locations. Election Day is May 10. |
