Wildcat Band receives Sweepstakes award

On April 16 and 17, the Whitehouse High School concert and symphonic bands performed at the University Interscholastic League Region 21 Concert and Sight Reading Contest held in the beautiful Whitehouse High School Auditorium.

The Concert Band received a rating of Excellent and a rating of Superior in Sight Reading. The Symphonic Band was awarded a "Superior" Rating in Concert & Sight Reading, and because the Wildcat Band made a Superior Rating at their UIL Marching Contest as well, they received the coveted "Sweepstakes" Award for the 14th year.

The Concert Band, directed by James Clifton, performed Circus Days by K. L. King; Crest of Nobility by Sheldon, and Kentucky 1800 by Grundman. The Symphonic Band, directed by Denny Whitley performed Honey Boys on Parade by Cupero; Variations on Dona Nobis Pacem by Sudduth; and Light Cavalry Overture by Von Suppe. Both bands will present their annual spring band concert on May 12 at 7 p.m. at the high school Arena.
