TXDOT offers incentive for timely completion of 'Troup and the Loop'

TYLER - Texas Department of Transportation and contractor R.K. Hall Construction have reached an agreement that if the work to widen the intersection of ESE Loop 323 and SH 110 and other work in the surrounding area can be completed by Aug. 8, the contractor will be awarded an incentive bonus of $50,000.

"Incentives like this are common in this kind of work," said Larry Krantz, TxDOT public information officer. "The bottom line for TxDOT is getting this work completed on or ahead of schedule so we can minimize the impact on traffic at Tyler's busiest intersection."

This incentive for Aug. 8 does not include completing median construction or the ensuing resurfacing work, which is still anticipated to be completed by the end of September.

Work scheduled for completion on Aug. 8 consists of widening the intersection of ESE Loop 323 and SH 110 to accommodate the addition of "free right" turn lanes and dual left-hand turn lanes in all directions; miscellaneous non-resurfacing items such as curb-and-gutter and storm-drain work.

The most recent traffic counts estimate approximately 75,000 cars and trucks per day pass through the crossing of ESE Loop 323 and SH 110, making it Tyler's busiest intersection.
