Whitehouse kept its playoff hopes alive last Friday night with a dominating 42- 14 win over Nacogdoches at Wildcat Stadium. The victory sets up a must-win situation tomorrow night as the Cats travel to Henderson to take on the Lions. A week after setting three school of fensive records, the Wildcat offense continued to roll as they built a commanding 28-7 lead by halftime. More ... The momentum from Saturday’s showdown with Lindale carried over Tuesday night as Whitehouse asserted itself early, taking game one over Texas High 25-8. The Lady Tigers rallied to make games two and three more competitive, but the Ladycats rolled to finish the match 25-18, 25- 19. More ... Troup improved on last year’s playoff performance, advancing over bi-district opponent Marlin Tuesday in four games. Playing at Fairfield, the Lady Tigers claimed the first two games, 25-21, 25-23, and then dropped game three, 18-25. The determined team came out strong in game four and prevailed, 25-15. More ... Jamey Scruggs, 12, fired a hole-in-one Sunday at Hilltop Country Club in Troup. Scruggs aced the No. 3 hole. Witnesses were Tommy Day, Carter Day, and Jack Day. More ... West Rusk (3-1) clinched a playoff berth Friday, taking an 18-7 win over Troup in Tiger Stadium. Troup dropped to 1-3 in District 19-2A and will travel to Garrison Friday for their last district game. It wasn’t the five-set battle that characterized their first two meetings, but it was still a competitive match as Whitehouse took a three-game win over Lindale Saturday to claim the District 14-4A title. More ... The Whitehouse High School boys and girls teams claimed dual titles at the district cross country meet on Oct. 28 in Jacksonville. In the girls division, Henderson took second and Lindale third. For the boys, Nacogdoches claimed second and Lindale and Jacksonville tied for third. More ... The Troup Tiger boys cross country team finished third at the district meet to qualify for the regional meet in Houston. The team was led by senior Jake Herington, who medaled with a third place time of 17:22. Herington has qualified for the regional cross country meet for four consecutive years. More ... The Whitehouse Junior High seventh-graders recorded wins over Jacksonville last week in two lowscoring defensive battles.
