Timothy McDaniel

Funeral services for Timothy L. "Tim" McDaniel of Troup, 47, were held Jan. 5, 2009 at Green Acres Baptist chapel, Tyler, with Dr. Ron Wells officiating under the direction of Autry Funeral Home of Jacksonville.

Burial was at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler.

Mr. McDaniel passed away Dec. 29, 2008 at his residence in Troup.

He was born Aug. 22, 1961 in Childress.

Mr. McDaniel was the president of Apex Geoscience Inc, founded in 1995, in Tyler, and active in the environmental geotechnical industr y with additional offices in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area, Amarillo, Lufkin, Wichita Falls, Texarkana, Paris, Conroe, Longview and Oklahoma City.

He was a graduate of Sherman High School in 1979, and received the Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow while in Sherman. Mr. McDaniel, P.E., P.G., graduated from Texas A&M University in 1983 with a degree in geology and received his civil engineering degree in 1984. Mr. McDaniel was active in various professional associations including the American Society of Civil Engineers and Chi Epsilon, an honorary civil engineering scholastic fraternity. He was a member of the Century Club, Association of Former Students, the Twelfth Man Foundation and a longtime season ticket holder for Texas A&M. He was a member of the Board of Directors of The Brook Hill School and assisted in the planning of the new stadium and state-of-the-art sports field. He donated countless hours and was instrumental in the growth of the Brook Hill School.

He loved hunting, fishing, backpacking and was an outdoorsman. Mr. McDaniel was a born-again Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitehouse.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Patti Jane McDaniel, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Chamberlain and Mr. and Mrs. J.A. McDaniel.

Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife of 21 years, Elaina Robinson McDaniel, and daughter, Tyler Elaina McDaniel, both of Troup. He is also survived by his father, Royce Lynn McDaniel, and mother, Betty Howardene Chamberlain McDaniel, of Direct; sister, Lori Malone and husband Carey of Paris; father and motherin law, Bill and Norma Robinson of Rusk; brother-in-law, Barry Robinson of Rusk; and nephew, Curt Malone of Paris.

Pallbearers were Daniel Romo, Jim Markle, Dave Robinson, Barry Robinson, Carey Malone, Mark Little, Ron Anderson and Lynn Hullinger. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Dean, Gregg Neurohr, Mark Swinnea, W.D. Chamberlain, John Hullinger, Donnie Ives, Ross Johnson, Mitchell Bernhard, Don Barron, John Tayntor, Garry Houston, Gary Adams, Danny Adams, Ross McDaniel and Wayland Chamberlain.

The family requests that memorials be may be made to: The Twelfth Man Association of Texas A&M University; Former Students Association at Texas A&M University; St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis Tenn.; The Make a Wish Foundation; or the Texas Gulf Coast "Hurricane Ike Recovery."
