During the months of January and February the Texas State Railroad is offering a discounted local appreciation fare residents who live in Anderson, Angelina, Cherokee, Freestone, Henderson, Houston, Leon, Nacogdoches, Navarro, Rusk and Smith counties.

The special rate of $10 per person is for general seating with upgrades available for climate controlled seating.

On Jan. 9, 16, 17, 23 and 30 the train departs from the Rusk Depot and on Feb. 6, 13, 14, 20 and 27 the train departs from the Palestine Depot. Special discounted rate is valid on Peanuts™ - The Valentine Express (Feb. 13- 14) but is not valid for the Valentine’s Dinner Train.

Tickets at this special rate can only be purchased by calling the reser vation office at (903) 683-2561 or 1-888- 987-2461. Tickets will also be sold at the window on the date of each ride based on availability. ID with proof of address will be required. Box lunches are available to purchase at the time of reservation.

More than 40,000 people recently rode the TSR’s Polar Express. Officials report riders from 28 different states as well as international visitors.
