TARC holds field day

The Tyler Amateur Radio Club will hold a Field Day June 26-27 in the Blackjack camping area of Tyler State Park. This event is open to the public for 24 hours beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday to learn more about becoming an amateur radio operator. THS Class of 1990 to meet

The Troup High School Class of 1990 will hold its 20th reunion at Villa Montez in Tyler at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 26. All former class members and their guests are invited to attend. For more information, please contact troupclassof90@gmail.com.

TWCO meets Monday

Troup Women’s Civic Organization will meet on Monday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of Troup’s Cameron-J. Jarvis Library. This will be the “kick off” meeting for the upcoming year so all members are encouraged to attend.

Concord Cemetery plans memorial day

The annual meeting of the Cherokee County Concord Cemetery Association will be held on Sunday, July 4 with morning worship at 11 a.m. followed by a picnic lunch and the annual business meeting of the cemetery association. The church and cemetery are located in the Concord Community, about nine miles southeast of Troup. Everyone is invited to come and bring a picnic lunch. Free lesson series begins at YMCA

“Eat Better to Live Better” is a six-week lesson series where participants will learn about planning a healthy diet, shopping strategies that can help stretch their food dollars, food safety basics, the nutrition facts label and how to understand the dietary recommendations for serving sizes, portion control, and total fat and sodium consumption. Classes begin on Tuesday, July 6 and will be taught each Tuesday through Aug. 10 at the Whitehouse YMCA, 7-8:30 p.m. To reserve your spot, call the YMCA at 903-839-9622 or the Smith County AgriLife Extension Service office at 902-590-2980.

WH library offers JobView

The Whitehouse Community library continues a helpful service for its patrons with JOBView, a tool for job searches locally or nationally. JOBView networks with state workforce services, Internet job sites, local and regional employers and updates its jobs daily.

Library hours and activities

Regular library hours for the Whitehouse Community Library are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11-5. Their Summer Reading program is under way meeting on Wednesdays. Ages 3-6 meet at 9 a.m., ages 7-8 meet at 10 a.m. and ages 11-14 start at 11 a.m. Contact the library at 903-839-2949 for more information.

Jarvis Troup Municipal Library are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 1-5 p.m., Thursday 3-7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call the library at 903-842-3101 for more information. Their Summer Reading program begins Wednesday, 2 p.m. Those who just finished fifth grade and younger are welcome to attend.

WH Recycle Center open

Regular hours of operation for the Whitehouse Recycle Center are on Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Avenue.

Troup American Legion hosts karaoke

Karaoke by Barbie Doll every Saturday, 6 p.m. until close at Troup American Legion Hall, 302 E. Magnolia, 903-842-3750.

VFW Post 1799 open daily

VFW Post 1799 on Rhone Quarter Road opens daily at 2:30 p.m. for members and guests. Each day offers a different activity such as competitive pool, karaoke and social hour. For information visit www.vfw1799.org or call 903-561-3501.

Church Activities

Bascom UMC hosts breakfast

The Bascom United Methodist Church on FM 848 hosts breakfast the last Saturday of the month from 8:30 -10 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted.
