Whitehouse 7 on 7 team makes state

A Whitehouse football team is making a return trip to the state 7 on 7 tournament.

Robert E. Lee also advances from last weekend’s qualifying tournament held at Lindsey Park.

The team from Whitehouse went 3-0 in Pool B competition, defeating John Tyler, 34-33; Atlanta, 33-26; and Rockwall, 28-18.

In the semifinal round, Whitehouse downed North Crowley, 42-21, while Lee defeated Jacksonville, 32-20.

Whitehouse was led by receiver Trey Metoyer, who caught four TD passes against North Crowley, and Hunter Taylor at QB.

Whitehouse scored four or more touchdowns in all of its games.

The Fox Sports 7 on 7 State Tournament will be July 9-10 at Texas A&M University. Whitehouse High School coaching staff and assistants held a boys basketball camp last week. The camp featured instruction in fundamentals as well as team competition for participants in three age divisions: incoming seventh-ninth graders, fourthsixth graders and first-fourth graders. Ryan Tomlin is the head boys basketball coach at WHS.
