Services for Mrs. Hazel Rasberry, 91, of Whitehouse were held July 8, 2010 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennie Portwood officiating. Her final rest is beside her husband at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Hazel was born Sept. 12, 1918 to the late Benjamin and Addie Durham Portwood. She graduated from Whitehouse High School with the class of 1937 and then attended Tyler Beautician School. She married Worth Rasberry in 1938 and they made their home in Walnut Grove where she operated a beauty shop. The Rasberrys were members and supporters of Mount Carmel Baptist Church where Hazel taught Sunday school.
Mrs. Rasberry went peacefully from this life on July 5, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Worth, her son, Dr. Kerry Rasberry, four brothers, Ben, Harrison, Lewis and Roy Portwood and sister, Ellis Haggerty.
Mrs. Rasberry is survived by her sons, Hal Rasberry and his wife Beverly of Whitehouse and Rex Rasberry of Panama; daughter, Brenda Hinz and her husband Don of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Kristy Foster of Lake Tyler, Kelly Manziel of Tyler, Max Rasberry of Whitehouse and Gina Monus of Austin; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lee Portwood of Whitehouse and Howard Portwood of Reklaw.
Pallbearers were Bill Dowdy, Robert Cates, Wayne Richey, Terr y Hanks, Danny Pickens and Bill Portwood.
