Highlights of the Whitehouse squads’ overall participation included:
-- Alyssa Smith and Connor Pittinger were selected by the UCA staff on day one as members of an elite group called “Pin It Forward.”
UCA describes Pin It Forward as part of the national “America Needs Cheerleaders” campagin. UCA created this program to promote all of the values developed through cheerleading like leadership, spirit, commitment, kindness and motivation.
As part of Pin it Forward, during the camp each UCA instructor passed out a card with two pins to two cheerleaders who they thought possessed those skills on day one. On day two, those cheerleaders passed their extra pin onto another cheerleader from a different school possessing those traits. At the end of the camp, all of the cheerleaders who had received a pin were recognized.
-- All three squads received spirit sticks all four days for showing leadership, spirit, positive attitudes, and a positive work ethic. They also earned superior ratings for the camp cheer and extreme routine (incorporation of camp dance, cheer, tumbling, and stunting) and were selected as most improved squad in their respected divisions.
-- Varsity mascot Meagan Broussard received a superior rating and a spirit stick. JV mascot, Clarissa Hughes received a spirit stick.
