Lady Tigers second at Chapel Hill meet

Troup placed second in the girls division and 12th in the boys division at the Chapel Hill Invitational Powerlifting Meet Saturday, Feb. 4. The Lady Tigers scored 30 points, second to Lindale which scored 44 points. Host Chapel Hill was third with 28 points, followed by Paris with 22 points and Athens with 18 points.

The Lady Tigers individual results were as follows, by weight class:

97 weight class, Savannah Martin 2nd place. 123 weight class, Marlee Ward totaled 525 pounds and placed 3rd.

132 weight class, Ariel Hartless totaled 670 pounds only 25 pounds off from the state total and she is now ranked third in our region. Taylor Martin placed fifth scoring for her team and she is now ranked 6th in the region. Also, competing in the 132 weight class was Courtney Williams, and she placed 4th and totaled 535 pounds and is now ranked 12th, two spots away from qualifying from the regional meet.

She went eight for nine and set new personal records in two events. She dead-lifted 380 pounds and benched 175 pounds. She was declared the Best Overall Lifter of the meet in all events in the light weight division (97-165). Jiles has been the best lifter at all of regular season invitational meets. 165 weight class, ReAnna Boone competed in the 165 marking her second meet.

198 weight class, Kristin Dean placed 1st scoring seven points and she had the 3rd best bench in the heavy weight division (165-SHW) and was the top dead-lifter in her division.

The Troup boys individual results were as follows:

148 weight class, Brett Martin placed 6th with a 840 pound total. He benched 190 pounds at 144-pound body weight.

The Troup girls will participate in the Region III meet in March in Canton, while the Troup boys will participate in the Region III meet in March in Rusk. He benched 225 pounds at 158-pound body weight.

275 weight class, Tristen Walsworth placed third scoring four points for his team. Second place only out totaled him by 25 pounds. He set a PR in his squat, he squatted 540 pounds. SHW weight class,

D’Zavier Harris placed fifth he set a PR in the bench, deadlift and total lift. He benched 340 pounds, pulled 495 and totaled 1,315 pounds. Harris and Walsworth are top-ranked in their region and weight class. The Troup Tiger powerlifters will next compete in the Bullard Panther Invitational at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18.
