Softball girls buddy with students


Leader Staff Photos/Suzanne Loudamy Leader Staff Photos/Suzanne Loudamy Members of the St. Thomas Tommies women’s softball team from St. Thomas University visited the campus of Whitehouse Junior High School while they were in the area to play in the NCAA DIII National Softball Tournament.

Head softball coach John Tschida brought his team over for a simple game of indoor kickball and everyone walked away with big smiles and full hearts.

“This is a good way to get the girls’ minds off of themselves and focused on the community,” Tschida said. “The kids get a kick out of it and girls can release some of their stress about their upcoming games.”

This team and others from around the country were hosted by the University of Texas at Tyler for the national tournament.

The Tommies made it to the third round of the tournament.
