Community Activities

TASCA Thursday morning dance

Every Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon, the sounds of Willowridge Music cranks up for your Country and Western dancing pleasure at TASCA. Whether you enjoy a waltz, some boot scootin’ or just like to listen to the music, come join the folks at TASCA for a little daytime dancing. Admission is free for members and $1 for guests. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd) in Whitehouse.

TASCA offers Jam Session

Jam Session and sing along runs from 1-4 p.m. on Friday, June 13. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Acoustic instruments only. Music includes Country, Bluegrass and Gospel. TASCA members are free. Guests are $1 each. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd), Whitehouse.

Sons of the Legion meet

The Sons of the American Legion will meet Saturday, June 14 at the Legion hall, 302 E. Magnolia in Troup.

AARP driver safety program offered

There will be an AARP Driver Safety Class at Pollard United Methodist Church 3030 New Copeland Road Tyler on Wednesday June 11 at 12:30pm to 4:30pm. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. The class is open to all drivers with a valid driver’s license but is geared to participarts over 50. After completion of the class you may be eligible for a discount on your automobile insurance premium. Contact Harry H. Rayner 903-768-2032 or 713-252-9496 for information or to register.

Library hours

Regular library hours for the Whitehouse Community Library are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 11 a.m.- 6 p.m., Fridays 11-5 and Saturdays 11-3. Story time is on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Contact the library at 903- 839-2949 for more information. Summer Reading Program is under way.

Regular hours for the Cameron-J. Jarvis Troup Municipal Library are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 1-5 p.m. Thursday 3-7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call the library at 903-842-3101 for more information. Summer Reading Program begins June 18.

Recycle-Recycle-Recycle

Whitehouse Recycle Center is open Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Avenue.

Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.

American Legion weekly events

American Legion in Troup at 301 Magnolia has karaoke every Sunday 7-11 p.m. Pool tournaments begin at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday night.

Church Activities

Henry’s Chapel celebration

Henry’s Chapel United Methodist Church will celebrate the church’s 100th anniversary on Saturday, June 14, 2-4 p.m. The public is invited to attend this historical day.

Government Activities

WH P & Z to meet

The City of Whitehouse Planning and Zoning commission is set to meet Tuesday, June 17 at 6 p.m. in the Whitehouse City Council and Court chambers at 311 E. Main.
