Clothes Closet open

The Clothes Closet at the Church of Christ, 412 W. Duval in Troup, is open the first Tuesday of the month for those in need of clothing for their family. Doors are open 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.

Outdoor warning system test

The cities of Troup and Whitehouse test the outdoor warning siren system the first Tuesday of each month. Troup’s system is tested at 11 a.m. and the Whitehouse system is tested at 1 p.m. Should there be inclement weather the testing will be postponed to the following month.

Dixie Masonic Lodge to meet

The Dixie Masonic Lodge #272 in Troup will meet Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall.

Game Time for Seniors

Game Time for Senior Citizens will be Wednesday, Sept. 3 from 1-3 p.m. at the Troup library. All senior citizens are welcome to attend.

AARP driver safety program offered

The next AARP Driver Safety course is set for Wednesday, Sept. 3, 12:30-4:40 p.m., at Green Acres Baptist Church. The cost for AARP members is $15 with non-members paying $20. After completion of the 4 hour course you may be entitled to a discount on your automobile insurance. To register for a class call Randy Vanderstay at 903-752-0240.

Troup Cub Scout night set

Troup’s School Night for Scouting is set for Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Troup Elementary. Boys grades 1-5 interested in Cub Scouts are invited to come and bring their parents. More information can be found online at: http:// troupcubscouts0375.weebly.com/.

Bascom UMC hosts breakfast

The Bascom United Methodist Church on FM 848 hosts breakfast the last Saturday of the month from 8 - 9:30 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted.

HC UMC has fifth Sunday singing

A Fifth Sunday Singing will be held at Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. with a fellowship meal afterwards.

Beth Moore simulcast coming

Whitehouse First Assembly of God will host a special day of worship and Bible teaching with Beth Moore live via internet broadcast on a huge video screen. Early Bird tickets are $30 and will include general admission, lunch, snacks and drinks. Purchase tickets through the website www.mywfa.org. Ticket prices will go up to $40 after Sept. 1 and will end on Sept. 8. Seating is first come first serve, and the doors will open at 9:30 a.m.

Troup UMC to celebrate anniversary

Troup’s First United Methodist Church will celebrate the 100th anniversary of their church building on Sunday, Sept. 7. Coffee and fellowship is set for 9:45-10:45 a.m. followed by services. Everyone is invited to attend.

Gateway hosting garage sale

Gateway Baptist Church will host a fundraiser garage sale on Sept. 11-13. Come on out for great deals for a great cause.

School Activities

WHS Band Boosters meet Tuesday

The Whitehouse Band Boosters will meet Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. in the WHS band hall.
