Whether we want to believe it or not, Christmas is upon us. In a family like ours, where the budget is tight and faith is important, Christmas can be really stressful. For years, I have said that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because no one has messed it up yet with commercial garbage. (Although with Black Friday sales getting earlier and earlier each year, that thought is being ruined as well.) Christmas is a wonderful holiday and I adore all the magical, fun parts of the season. However, I really would prefer for my family to focus on Jesus and not gifts, so it can be a hard holiday to manage. Also, as the wife of a man who groans and says ‘Bah Humbug’ at least a dozen times each December as he worries about finances, I made it my personal goal to relieve him of any such stress a few years back. While I can’t turn him into a grinning, jolly elf, I can help him to enjoy the holiday inside our four walls. And in turn, I think our whole family enjoys it more! more
An old-timer visiting Branson, Missouri, for the “umpteenth” time claims visitors flock to this one-of-a-kind, out-of-the-way place for one of two reasons, and sometimes both. They’re either intent on getting away from it all or spending time where it’s all at! more

By the time you read this, all the turkey will have been consumed. The stuffing and pies will be a memory, or (burp!) maybe a leftover in the back of the fridge. The football games will have been played and the children’s pilgrim hats have been put away. That means it is officially time to talk about Christmas! more
Reflections at Thanksgiving abound, and participants gaining most from the season are of one accord--filling their hearts with precious memories of loved ones and friends. We cherish warm remembrances, including those that made us laugh then--and make us laugh now. more
