Running on the home track makes a difference. Whitehouse hosted the District 17-5A track and field meet Wednesday, April 11. The Ladycats won the girls division and the Wildcats were second in the team standings. Head track coach Donald Garlitz said Whitehouse also will host the 17-5A and 18-5A area meet Thursday, April 19, at Wildcat Stadium. more

Blake Beasley pitched a one-hit shutout in the first game with Nacogdoches and the Wildcats rallied in the seventh inning to win the second game and a sweep over the Dragons in District 17-5A baseball action last week. Whitehouse improved to 18-4 for the season and 5-1 in the district standings. The Wildcats remain in seventh place in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association poll for this week. Whitehouse was slated to play the Corsicana series, first at Corsicana Tuesday, April 17. The Wildcats will host the Tigers at 7 p.m. Friday, April 20. more
vThe Lady Tigers scored 35 runs in their last two outings. That is a lot of offensive power and the defense allowed only four runs to help give Troup stunning wins over Winona and Arp. With the victories, the Lady Tigers qualified for the playoffs. With the wins over Winona and Arp, Troup improved to 8-13 for the season and 4-5 in the district standings. more
Troup golfers took the top four medalists honors and the Tigers coasted to the District 15-3A championship at Pine Springs Golf Course in Tyler last week. The Lady Tigers placed third and three girls advanced as medalists. The Region II golf championship will be played at Oak Hurst Golf Club in Bullard for the boys and at Peach Tree Golf Course in Tyler for the girls. Both tournaments will be played Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24. more
Emily Neel won two events and Hunter Bailey Hartley, Shane Thomas and Will Hunter each won individual events at the District 15-3A track and field championships at West Rusk last week. Neel, as expected, won the two distance races included the 3,200-meter and 1,600 runs. Hartley was first in the pole vault and Hunter had the best throw in the discus. more
Hilltop Country Club in Troup hosted the weekly Senior Scramble Tuesday, April 10. At first place with a score of minus -15, was the team of Gil Weston, John Covington, Jimmy Baughman, Henry Edwards and Ray Griffith, The team of Sue Olson, Coy Olson, Mike Cearley, Jerry Massey and Bill Kyle placed second at munus-13. more
Troup moved to 7-2 in the District 15-3A standings with victories over Winona and Cumberland Academy. Sabine edged the Tigers, also in loop competition. Troup was scheduled to host West Rusk Tuesday, April 17, and will host Harmony at 7 p.m. Friday, April 20. For the Tigers, the regular season will conclude when they host Arp at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24. more
He changed the defensive strategy for the Whitehouse football program for the past two seasons and now he will have the opportunity to put his stamp on “everything Whitehouse football.” At the monthly board meeting Monday, April 9, the Whitehouse Independent School District Board of Trustees selected Marcus Gold as the new head football coach for the Wildcats. more
