Major Thaddeus Beall Chapter NSDAR to hold meeting
The next meeting of the Major Thaddeus Beall Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at Caddo Mounds State Historical site, 1649 State Highway 21 West, in Alto. The site is located approximately six miles west of the four-way stop in Alto where Highway 60 and State Highway 21 cross in Alto and is well marked by state signs. NSDAR chapter members and guests are being asked to bring a sack lunch to be eaten at the site following the program.
Retirement Reception to be held
The public is invited to help celebrate Ava Johnson’s 40 years of service in education by attending a retirement reception to be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Troup Middle School.
Memorial Day Service at Knoxville Cemetery
The annual Knoxville Cemetery Memorial Day is set for Sunday, June 3. Worship service will begin at 11 a.m. with a short business meeting and a covered dish luncheon to follow. Everyone is invited. Please bring lawn chairs.
Republic Services in Whitehouse picks up recycling on Wednesday. Recyclable items include paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.
Jam session and sing along
Jam session and sing along runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. each Friday. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Acoustic instruments only. Music includes Country, Bluegrass and Gospel. TASCA members are free. Guests are $1 each. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd), in Whitehouse.

American Legion in Troup at 301 Magnolia has pool tournaments beginning at 7 p.m. each Wednesday night.
