WFA hosts Back to School Health Fair
The Whitehouse First Assembly will host a Back to School Health Fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. All services at the fair are being offered to students kindergarten through 12th grade free of cost and include dental and hearing screenings, immunizations, haircuts and backpacks with school supplies. Other activities of the day include inflatables, a petting zoo, concessions and first responders with their vehicles as well as a blood drive by Carter BloodCare. The event will take place rain or shine.
ETGS to meet
“Mining Obituaries for Ancestors,” or reading obituaries, will be the topic of speaker Sandra Crowley at the East Texas Genealogical Society meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. ETGS meetings are free and open to the public. The Aug. 11 meeting will be held at Tyler Public Library, 201 South College, in the Taylor Auditorium. Wildcat Extension Education Club to meet
The Wildcat Extension Education Club of the Texas Extension Education Association, will hold its monthly meeting from 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, August 14, in the meeting room of Regions Bank, Hwy. 110, Whitehouse. Republic Services in Whitehouse picks up recycling on Wednesday. Recyclable items include paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans.
Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.
Jam session and sing along
Jam session and sing along runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. each Friday. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Acoustic instruments only. Music includes Country, Bluegrass and Gospel. TASCA members are free. Guests are $1 each. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd), in Whitehouse.
