Lady Tigers breeze past Carlisle, 56-26, improve to 7-1

Ty Moon contributed 13 points and five assists and Asia Parker scored 15 points and grabbed seven steals to help propel Troup to a 56-26 victory over Carlisle in varsity basketball competition last week.

Troup improved to 7-1 for the season and was slated to play All Saints Tuesday, Dec. 5. The Lady Tigers will play in the Harleton Tournament Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 7-9. District 15-3A competition will start Tuesday, Dec. 12, when Troup hosts Arp. The varsity game will start at 6:30 p.m.

Troup rolled to an 18-3 lead after one quarter in the game with Carlisle. By halftime, the result was almost certain after the Lady Tigers pulled ahead 36-10. Any questions of a Carlisle rally in the second half was quelled when Troup went on an 11-4 run to take a 47-14 advantage into the final frame. With full-scale substitution by Troup, Carlisle did edge the Lady Tigers 12-11 in the final stanza but the outcome was never in question.

In addition to leading the team in points and steals, Parker also collected four rebounds, while Moon also grabbed four rebounds. Renee Dennis finished with 10 points, Kori Minnix added seven points, six steals and a team-high five rebounds to the totals and Alyssa Hearon scored five points and collected four rebounds and six steals. Additionally, Jayla Starks scored four points, Emily Neel finished with two points and a trio of assists and Jalyce Dennis scored two points and had three steals.
