Ladycats third at Garden Valley course


The Ladycats captured third place at the Garden Valley Golf Course in a tournament hosted by Lindale High School Thursday, March 9.

Rachel Fulgham fired a one-day, 18-hole 95 to help lead Whitehouse, which finished with a team total of 405. Texas High won the team title with a 366, and Pine Tree posted a 377 for second place. There were about 60 girls from 15 schools who participated in the tournament.

Meghan Adams and Delaney Mullen each carded a 101 for the Ladycats, Abbi Thomas recorded a 108 and Maggie McGee posted a 113.

Zoe Mayfield of Spring Hill was top medalist with a 71 for 18 holes. Lily Maxwell from Texas High fired an 81 for second medalist honors, and Connor Howard of Hallsville fired an 81 for third medalist honors.

Longview placed fourth in the team standings with a 422, followed by Sulphur Springs, 432; Bullard, 441; and Corsicana and Lindale, both with a 453. Medalist players represented John Tyler, Spring Hill, Chapel Hill, Hallsville, Jefferson, Canton and Brook Hill.

Adams paced the Ladycats at the Lindale High School Invitational golf tournament at Hideaway Lake in an earlier tournament.

Adams and the Whitehouse team placed fourth in the 12-team tournament with a team total of 410. Hallsville won the team title with a 384, Mabank was second at 391 and Canton edged Whitehouse with a team total of 402.

Adams carded a 97 for the 18-hole tournament. Fulgham carded a 99, Mullen recorded a 102, Thomas finished at 112 and McGee carded a 117.

Emma French of Brook Hill was the top medalist with an 85 for the 18-holes.

Teams in the tournament included Spring Hill, 429; Sulphur Springs, 448; Sabine, 449; Grace A, 452; Lindale, 455; Van, 481; Chapel Hill, 486; and Grace B, 495.
