Troup FFA, Young Farmers exhibit at Smith County Youth Expo

Troup FFA and Troup Young Farmers took a good number of students and their project animals to the Smith County Youth Expo held in Lindale last week.

“We are so proud of these kids,” Preston Lindsey, FFA and Young Farmers adviser said. “They have worked really hard to get their projects to this point.”

Here’s how they finished:

Broilers: Lindsey Lowry, Grand Champion and Drake Colvin, 3rd Place.

Roasters: Grady Lowry, Reserve Champion.

Pigs: Lindsey Lowry, Overall Grand Champion and Grand Champion Cross; Grady Lowry, 1st Place Duroc; Emily Neel, 4th Place Hamp; Cooper Reid, Grand Champion York; Cooper Reid, 2nd Place Cross; and Brayleigh Horton, 2nd Place Cross.

Goats:  Holly Weathers, Grand Champion and Kaitlin Rainwater, 5th Place.

Steers: Justin Nelson, 1st in Class; Holly Weathers, 2nd in Class and Tyler Lloyd, 2nd in Class.

Heifers: Madison Griffin, Grand Champion American; Ashley Griffin, 2nd in Class American; Drew Weathers, 2nd in Class Angus; Brooke Hunter, Reserve Champion English; Meghan McPhail, 1st in Class Angus; Tyler Lloyd, 1st in Class English; Mason Hunter, 5th in Class Exotic, Braxton Cassell, Reserve Champion Exotic and Grayson Nedham, 4th in Class Exotic.
