Whitehouse remains the only unbeaten team among the District 17-5A football teams after the Wildcats moved to 2-0 following a 29-13 win over Chapel Hill last week.
Ennis is still winless, but the Lions have played very tough opponents and lost by narrow margins. Ennis fell to Class-6A John Tyler 27-23 last week. Jacksonville was edged by Palestine 31-26, Class-6A Tyler Lee dominated Corsicana 42-15, and Lufkin tripped Nacogdoches 45-28.
The Lindale Eagles won their first game with a 30-17 victory over Forney.
Three District 17-5A teams will be on the road and three will remain home to host games Friday, Sept. 15. Whitehouse will host defending State Class-4A champion Carthage, Lindale will host Van and Nacogdoches will host Tyler Lee.
Corsicana will be at Lancaster, Ennis plays at Waxahachie and Jacksonville will travel to Hallsville.
Whitehouse is averaging 27.5 points per game and the Wildcats are allowing a district low of 11.5 points per contest. Corsicana lead the district with an average of 28 points per game, and the Tigers are allowing an average of 21 points per game. Ennis has allowed an average of 28 points per game, and the Lions are scoring an average of 25.5 points per contest.
Jacksonville has scored an average of 23.5 points per game, and the Indians are allowing an average of 21.5 points per contest. Lindale has allowed an average of 18 points per contest, and the Eagles scored an average of 22 points per game in their first two outings. Nacogdoches is allowing the most points among district teams, an average of 40 points per game. The Dragons scored an average of 24.5 points per contest.
