Lady Guard soccer team collects 10 TAPPS All-District honors

With the 2017-2018 season for the Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity soccer team now written in the chronicles of history, several of the team’s athletes are being honored for their skills and abilities, as the TAPPS Division II District 3 All-District Accolades list was recently announced.

This season, the Lady Guard collected one placement on the district’s First Team All-District list, as junior defender Morgan Carpenter earned the honor.

As for the district’s Second Team All-District recognitions, Brook Hill collected a total of five honors, including senior goalie Cassie Cannon, senior defender Julia Hardiman, sophomore midfielder Avery Latson, freshman midfielder Emerson Rose, and senior forward Sarah Walker.

A total of four Lady Guard soccer stars were named as Honorable Mention players on this year’s list, including junior defender Kaitlyn Juarez, sophomore midfielder Kaylee Lake, junior defender Madeline Reed, and senior midfielder Claire Smith.

“These girls worked crazy hard this season,” said Becky Knight, Lady Guard soccer head coach last season. “We faced a lot of adversity with injuries on the team and that held us back, but they never ceased in persevering each game. This was a character building season – a time to learn what it looks like to push through difficult times in life, leaning on the strength that only God can give. I told them at the beginning of the season I wanted them to always work hard, play hard, and finish strong and that’s exactly what they did. I’m extremely proud of these young ladies, and I’m already excited about next year. We will miss our seniors, but we have some promising returners. To God be the glory for great things He has done. Go Guard!”

The Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity soccer team finished the 2017-2018 season with an overall record of 4-8-1, 0-6 in district play, missing the cut for the playoffs.
